Interests
In addition to research, my interests include: finance, fitness and downhill skiing

It is probably no surprise that my greatest interest is my research field. I am very interested in applications with MRI, and enjoy travelling the globe to attend conferences focused on imaging. The research field is very sofisticated and at each event I learn many new things. Biomedical engineering is a great area for me, with challenging engineering and rewarding medical applications.

Through undergraduate and graduate school I have explored digital signal processing (DSP), and information theory for coursework and understanding of limits of MRI. I was introduced to the concept of algorithm trading, and with so many parallels to work I had already done, it drew my attention because of the possibility to achieve such high returns. Finacial engineering applications allow for the exploration of new noise and entropy properties, and combined with the allure of high reward it has peaked my interest and I have tickering with algorithm trading.

If you are looking to put together a rec sports team I am usually in. Fitness is a key part of life, so I try and get some each day. I enjoy running with my dog.

Since I was a teenager I have enjoyed downhill skiing, and this was one of the reasons that I moved to Calgary. Being close to the Rocky Mountains has been a very enjoyable experience for me over the last few years. I can be found at a few different skis hills (Kickinghorse, Castle) where I volunteer as a ski patroller.

These experiences in ski patrol have exposed me to the idea of doing ski touring. These adventures of non-mechanized backcountry skiing combine my love of hiking and skiing, and I try to get out whenever possible and explore white matter!
